The 17th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Digital Entertainment (AIIDE-21) was held October 11-15, 2021 as a virtual, online-only conference. Sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, AIIDE-21 is part of an annual series of conferences showcasing interdisciplinary research on modeling, developing, and evaluating intelligent systems in entertainment. AIIDE-21 provided a meeting place for AI researchers and practitioners to discuss the latest advances and contemporary issues in entertainment-focused AI. The conference has a long history of featuring research on artificial intelligence in computer games, and continues to grow into areas beyond games. AIIDE-21 featured invited speakers, paper sessions, workshops, tutorials, playable experiences, artifact evaluation, panels, posters, AI competitions, a reception, and a doctoral consortium. The proceedings of the conference have been published annually since 2005.
