Abstract

Rapidly increased commercial investment in the development of creative AI applications has so far largely outpaced societal norm-setting and regulation efforts in cultural and creative sectors. Critically oriented empirical work is urgently needed to help balance the situation and provide a grounding for policy work in the area. My PhD project examines the impacts of creative AI on the conditions of artistic work. Drawing from a series of empirical case studies, I explore how AI technology currently manifests in the creative domains from the perspective of professional artists, and how care ethics could pave the way towards responsible creative AI.
