The Fourteenth International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media (ICWSM-20) was held June 8-11, 2019. Although originally scheduled to be held in Atlanta Georgia, the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic caused all sessions shift to a virtual format.  The conference general chair was Munmun De Choudhury. The conference program cochairs were Rumi Chunara, Aron Culotta, and Brooke Foucault Welle. The conference was sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. 

The International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media (ICWSM) is a forum for researchers from multiple disciplines to come together to share knowledge, discuss ideas, exchange information, and learn about cutting-edge research in diverse fields with the common theme of online social media. This overall theme includes research in new perspectives in social theories, as well as computational algorithms for analyzing social media. ICWSM is a singularly fitting venue for research that blends social science and computational approaches to answer important and challenging questions about human social behavior through social media while advancing computational tools for vast and unstructured data. For ICWSM-2020, in addition to the usual program of contributed talks, posters and demos, the main conference also included a selection of keynote talks from prominent scientists and technologists.

In 2020, the conference accepted 72 full papers out of 295 papers for which final decisions were made this year, for an acceptance rate of 24 percent. The chairs carried over 67 submissions from the January 2019 cycle that submitted revisions in September, under our revise and resubmit process. The conference received 87 new submissions in September 2019 and 177 new submissions in January 2020; 19 were accepted on the first round and 54 were given invitations to revise and resubmit. The 54 papers with invitations to revise and resubmit from the January 2020 cycle do not count toward the acceptance rate statistics for this year. In the short-paper track, the conference received 53 poster submissions and accepted 12 (23%) of them, and it received 7 demo submissions and accepted 3 (43 percent) of them.
